In partnership with the Live Healthy DeKalb Coalition, the DeKalb County
Board of Health, OneDeKalb, and Georgia State University, we are
conducting an initiative to identify concerns of residents living in
DeKalb County. We are conducting the Mobilizing Action through Planning
and Partnerships (MAPP) process.
The first stages of the process is to recruit residents of DeKalb County
to complete a short survey that takes only 15 minutes
(www.studyneighborhoods.com) that inquires about conditions in their
neighborhood. This information will be used in combination with focus
groups and other community assessment measures to develop action plans
to improve the condition of neighborhoods and the health of residents!
Responses to the survey will be used to identify the chief concerns of
residents and to develop a community health improvement plan. The survey
asks questions about negative conditions in residents' neighborhood,
such as crime and abandoned buildings, and the presence of assets in
their neighborhood, such as sidewalks, parks, and groceries with fresh
foods. Finally, the survey will also ask some general questions about
participants' health, background, and availability of suitable
healthcare facilities.
