Midvale will not close!

On Tuesday March 23, the Citizens Planning Task Force eliminated Midvale from their list of schools under consideration for closure! They decided that due to inadequate open seats in the other elementary schools in the Tucker High cluster, Midvale could not be closed.

A big thank you to all of our community members who attended meetings, signed petitions, wrote our school board members and otherwise supported Midvale through this crisis!

Good News About Tucker Schools

I don't know how many of you have seen this article in today's paper.

I know that it is about Buckhead schools, but I wanted to point out that the program that is helping those schools become so popular and so FULL that they are having to build a new high school is the International Baccalaureate
Program. In that cluster of schools, they are offering K-12 IB and it is keeping the kids in the public school system when they used to go to private.

DID YOU KNOW...that we have the same thing right here in Tucker? Midvale Elementary, Tucker Middle, and Tucker High are all offering an IB education for OUR kids (Tucker Middle is still in the process of acquiring its IB accreditation but will be a full IB school soon). As the AJC article states, the Buckhead schools are "one of only a handful in the nation to offer the International Baccalaureate curriculum from kindergarten through 12th grade." Tucker is then also "one of only a handful in the nation". Definitely something to be proud of!
